With severe winter weather conditions expected to affect the area, UMass Amherst will close today, Jan. 26, at 5:30 p.m. and remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

On Tuesday evening, students, faculty and staff will receive an update on the status of the campus for Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Off-campus residents are advised to monitor weather conditions and prepare for the storm by obtaining food and other emergency supplies and charging electronic devices.

Before leaving campus today, all employees are urged to help reduce energy demands by taking the following steps: shutting off all electric equipment that does not need to be on; turning off all office lights, computers and monitors, and office equipment such as copiers; shutting all windows and exterior doors; completely closing sashes on laboratory fume hoods not in use.
