Scholarships

We have compiled a list of scholarship opportunities relevant for undergraduate history students. We have organized the scholarships in two ways:

The scholarships by deadline document is an abbreviated catalogue of scholarships containing a description, who to contact for advisement, and usually a website for further reference. Although the deadlines currently listed refer to the academic year 2007-2008, they can still give you an idea of future dates for which you can plan ahead.

Handout >> Scholarships listed by deadline.

The scholarships by category are organized in the following categories: study abroad funding, fellowships for study at an U.S. institution, on-campus awards at UMass, Phi Alpha Theta competition prizes, and other scholarship contests.

The Office of National Scholarship Advisement

Some funding opportunities in our list require extensive preparation and coaching. You are strongly encouraged to contact the ONSA Office to take advantage of the resources they offer to students who plan to apply to nationally competitive programs (e.g., Fulbright, Rhodes, Jack Kent Cooke, Marshall, Mitchell, among others).
