Undergraduate Student Spotlight: Martin Urbanksi

Martin at Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg
Martin Urbanski, a History major at UMass Amherst, is from Westfield, MA. Martin tells us:
"What I love most about UMass is the vast number of opportunities open to students. This summer I plan on attending a seminar session at Oxford University, and know that I will not only be enabled to expand on my studies, but acquire an experience of a lifetime as well. While there, I plan on studying Stuart England and the American Revolution – from the British perspective of course. Luckily there will also be plenty of opportunities to travel and experience England’s ancient and rich history first hand."
A transfer student from Springfield College, Martin is also one of the youngest licensed paramedics in the state and enjoys acquiring as much experience as he can in the field of emergency medicine. While not at UMass Martin enjoys a variety of different activities and pastimes such as hiking, mountain biking and working on his 1930 Ford Model A. Finally, at the end of the day, Martin says there’s nothing like reading a good book before going to bed.
So what's next? In the 2012/13 year, Martin will pursue further writing and dive into research for his honors thesis on British America.
