Fields of interest: Africa, especially the former Portuguese colonies and South Africa

Professional Activities
Her publications include articles on Guinea-Bissau, which have appeared in the Journal of African History, Current Bibliography of African Affairs, and the Revista Internacional de Estudos Africanos. Her book, Ominous Transition: Commerce and Colonial Expansion in the Senegambia and Guinea, 1857-1919. She is currently working with John Higginson on the role of American engineers in South Africa.
