Ph.D. Candidate (ABD)
Fields: Modern Europe, Public History, Memory of Conflict and Mass Violence
Advisors: Jon Olsen, Andrew Donson, James Young, Jennifer Evans (Carleton University)
Education: BA Honours History, Concordia University (2010), MA Public History, Carleton University (2012)
Interests: My dissertation focuses on Holocaust memory on social media sites, specifically on Flickr and Instagram. I look at how people choose to portray their visits to the former Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dachau, Neuengamme, and Sachsenhausen on those social media platforms, and in turn how popular culture influenced their interpretations on the history of the Holocaust. Some of my other research interests include collective memory, digital history, and visual culture.
