Giving to the History Department

The History Department has long relied on its generous alumni and friends to help support prizes for undergraduate History majors, travel grants and prizes for graduate students, and travel to conferences and professional meetings for faculty. And we love to hear what you have been up to!


How Do I Give?

By snail mail

Send your news and donations to the History Department, Herter Hall, University of Massachusetts, 161 Presidents Drive, Amherst MA 01003-9312. Make checks payable to the History Department.

Online

You can also donate to the department online via the UMass Amherst Alumni Association's secure portal.


New Scholarships

James and Cynthia Redman Scholarship

The James and Cynthia Redman Scholarship honors the life of James O. Redman, father of Professor Sam Redman and father-in-law of Professor Emily Redman. In lieu of flowers, the family has organized a scholarship fund in his memory for history students at the University of Massachusetts. Richard Gassan Memorial Scholarship

The Richard Gassan Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Richard Gassan, a 2002 PhD alumnus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst History Department. Established by friends and family of Dr. Gassan, the scholarship supports research by UMass Amherst graduate students.
