Professor Pelz won the Stuart L. Bernath Prize in 1975 for his widely
acclaimed book, Race to Pearl Harbor: The Failure of the Second London
Naval Conference and Onset of World War II (1974). He has been a Fulbright-Hayes
Fellow, a National Peace Fellow (of the Hoover Institute), an International
Security Studies Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center, and a Fellow of
the East Asian Institute at Columbia University.
