Research Interests and Professional Activities
The former Managing Editor of Labor History, Professor Cantor is
the author of Max Eastman (1970) and The Divided Left: American
Radicalism in the Twentieth Century (1978). Among his many edited
works are Main Problems in American History (with Quint and Albertson,
1964, 1968, 1972, 1978), Men, Women and Issues (1980, with Quint),
Black Labor in America (1970), Hamilton (1971), Biographical
Dictionary of American Labor Leaders (1974), Sex, Class and the
Women Worker (1977, with Bruce Laurie), American Working Class
Culture (1979) and Documents of American History (1988, with
Commager). Prof. Cantor retired from the History Department in 2002 but
continues to teach.
