Research Interests and Professional Activities
She is author of a monograph on Azerbaijan under Russian imperial and soviet rule, The Azerbaijani Turks (Stanford: Hoover Institution Press, 1992). Her published articles have appeared in the U.S., Canada, England, France, Turkey and Azerbaijan. She has been a consultant for the U.S. State and Justice Departments, and recipient of grants from the International Research and Exchanges Board, The George F. Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies, and the Ministry of Education of Japan. In June 2000, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from Khazar University in Baku.
