Topics in Recent U.S. History

Synopsis:
The topic is race in international perspective. We will examine racial belief and its relation to the construction of nation, gender, and government institutions, mostly, but not exclusively focusing on twentieth century examples. Students will first write an historiographical essay, then learn about available sources, and propose a research project that they can undertake in the Spring semester.
