The William F. Field Alumni Scholars Program

The William F. Field Alumni Scholars Program was established in 1976 to recognize and honor 60 third-year students for their academic achievements at UMass Amherst.  The program is named in honor of William F. Field, the University's first Dean of Students, for his outstanding support of academic excellence and his personal commitment to bringing out the best in every student.  The Field Scholars Program is funded through the generous support of UMass Amherst alumni.  Prospective Field Scholars are identified by the Registrar's Office and recommended to the Dean by Departments.   There is no student-initiated application process.

Eligibility requirements: Departmental nominees must have a minimum of sixty (60) graded hours in residence at UMass Amherst (transfer credits are excluded) and have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average.   Prospective recipients will also have distinguished themselves through singular academic, creative, research, or service achievements.
