Before handling any stick of RAM, remember to touch a piece of bare metal to discharge the static electricity from your body. If you do not do this, it can damage the RAM and cause it to be function improperly, even render it useless.

There are many different types of RAM and certain motherboards only use certain kinds. Never try to force a stick of memory into the motherboard if it will not go in. In doing this you will break off the connectors and we will have an entirely different problem.

Upgrading a computer’s RAM can effectively speed up its rate of data transfer and is a common upgrade in PC’s. It is very common for faculty and staff to ask for assistance with memory upgrades as we keep a stock of extra RAM at the office.
