Spanish and Portuguese: Latina/o Literature and Culture Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track The Spanish and Portuguese unit of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures invites applications for a tenure-track position in Latina/o Literature and Culture at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin September 1, 2009. We seek candidates with strong scholarly promise, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and native or near-native fluency in Spanish, who are prepared to teach different areas of Latina/o popular culture (music, dance, film, television) and literature, and who will bring an interdisciplinary perspective to questions surrounding the role of U.S. Latina/os in US society and the their relationship with Latin America. Candidates with expertise in film studies, performance studies, cultural studies, gender studies, or subaltern studies are urged to apply. Responsibilities include teaching and advising at all levels of the graduate and undergraduate curriculum, including courses in English. PhD in hand by Sept. 1, 2009. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
