    Prof. Gene Golowich recently delivered invited talks at conferences FPCP-2008 (Taipei, Taiwan 5/5/08-5/9/08) and CKM-2008 (Rome Italy 9/908-9/13/08).

  • Luca Grisa has joined UMASS high energy theory group as a postdoc. Welcome Luca!
  • Sourya will join Centro De Estudios Cientificos as a postdoc in fall 2008. Congratulations to him!

  • Sourya has sucessfully defended his thesis.

  • Mohamed has attended PiTP 2008 summer school at IAS.
  • Prof. John Donoghue is back to UMASS after spending two months at the Universitat Zuerich as a visiting professor.
  • Andreas has sucessfully defended his thesis.

  • Andreas will join Yale University as a postdoc in fall 2007. Congratulations to him!

  • Koushik will join the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich as a postdoctoral fellow in fall 2007. Congratulations to him!

  • Prof. Jennie Traschen has been elected as a 2006 Fellow of the American Physical Society by Topical Group on Gravitation for her "ground-breaking contributions to early universe cosmology and black hole physics". Many congratulations to her!

  • Andreas will join Yale University as a postdoctoral fellow from Fall 2007. Congratulations to him!

  • Koushik will join Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich as a postdoctoral fellow from Fall 2007. Congratulations to him!

  • Amjad Ashoorioon will join our group as a doctoral fellow in Fall 2007. Welcom Amjad!

  • There is a post doctoral position available in the group starting at Fall 2007.

  • Mohamed got married to Julia. Congratulations to them!

  • Mohamed Anber has won the Quinton Teaching Assistant Award (awarded to an outstanding teaching assistant), Michael Thorn has won the AAPT-T.A. Prize for his service to the department and Andreas Ross has won the first Morton and Helen Sternheim award for excellence in educational outreach. Congratulations to them!

  • The HET group graduate students are organizing a bi-weekly informal discussion session among themselves. All are welcome to participate. The first talk is on May 15th. Details to be followed.

  • Prof. Guy Blaylock and Mr. Heath Hatch of the UMass physics department collaborate with the theater department on the festivities surrounding the Mass Ensemble presentation of "Critical Mass", a musical and sculptural extravaganza inspired by the science of Einstein.

  • The group would like to welcome our new member Alexander Eliseev

  • Andreas Ross is one of the organizers of a workshop for physics TAs during the 2006 Joint Spring Meeting of the New Englang Sections of APS and AAPT

  • Jennie and David are attending the conference Scanning New Horizons: GR Beyond 4 Dimensions at Kavali Institue of Theoretical Physics. Jennie and David are on sabbatical for the Spring semester.
