The Department of Conservation and Recreation's mission is listed as, "protection, promotion and enhancement of our common wealth of natural, cultural and recreational resources." This mission highlights the importance of recreational activities within state park boarders. The purpose of the project is to conduct a series of representative surveys of visitors to a selection of Massachusetts State Parks. The the study aims to generate social factors and data that could be directly utilized during the management planning process in order to promote an integrated and adaptive approach to State Park management. The information collected included: visitor demographics, types of recreational activities, visitor preferences, attitudes, motivations and satisfaction levels. |
