| Called "warm and entertaining" by New York
Times crictic John Canaday, Kevin Collins began guitar at age
seven. As a senior at Frontier High in South Deerfield, he received
an award from the Massachusetts Music Teachers Assn. Kevin studied
guitar at the Hartt College of Music in West Hartford, Conn. with Richard
Provost and performed in masterclasses with Rey de la Torre and Oscar Ghiglia.
Mr. Collins studied at the Aspen Music Festival for nine summers. In 1977-78, Kevin held the position of Artist-in-Residence at the Austin Symphony. He made his debut in Rodrigoís Concierto de Aranjuez with Music Director and Conductor Akira Endo and the Austin Symphony. He has played up to 325 concerts a year across the United States. Kevin now lives in Amherst where he teaches for the UMass Performing Arts Division and at his private studio in Amherst.
