The Art and Technique of Practice
1:00 p.m.

Are you happy with what you produce from your practice?  Do you feel motivated to practice?  Do your performances live up to your expectations?  This workshop will examine ways to get the most from your practice, make it more enjoyable, and help you reach a higher level of performance.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Equally at home as a recitalist or chamber musician, Richard Provost presents a varied program of music written for, and performed on, the five-course baroque guitar and the six-string classical guitar.
The long neglected baroque is presently enjoying a renaissance.  Mr. Provostís repertoire contains many works familiar to guitar audiences in transcription but now performed in its original form and on the intended instrument.
In 1972, he made his London debut at Wigmore Hall and performed over one hundred concerts throughout England.  In 1985, he was invited to perform at the Zeven Guitar Festival in West Germany and was recorded for broadcast by Radio Bremen.
In addition, Mr. Provost has performed and conducted workshops at major colleges and festivals throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, and England.  These include appearances at Guitar í84 Toronto, The Boston Guitar Fest, California Summers Arts Festival, The National Summer Guitar Workshop, and numerous festivals sponsored by the Guitar Foundation of America and the American String Teachers Association.
A student of Alexander Bellow of New York City and international concert artist Oscar Ghiglia, Mr. Provost was selected to perform in the four week master class of Andres Segovia held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.  He was also performed in master classes conducted by:  Julian Bream, Rey de la Torre, and Jose Tomas.  In addition, he has studied baroque guitar with Robert Strizich.
