The President-elect of GSS for the 2010-2011 academic year resigned just before the start of the Fall 2010 semester, before taking office. As per the GSS Constitution and By-Laws, the Vice-President-elect, Wenbo Shao, became the President of GSS for the 2010-2011 academic year. To fill the now vacant position of Vice-President for the 2010-2011 academic year, a Vice-President Pro Tem will be nominated and elected through a Special Election of the Graduate Student Senate body, held according to the provisions for Special Elections in the GSS Constitution and By-Laws.

The Vice-President Pro Tem of the Graduate Student Senate has the following duties:

(Note: this is a graduate appointment that CANNOT include clerical duties.)

  • Serves as President in the absence of the President.
  • Serves as vice-chair of the Finance committee.
  • Serves as chair of the Childcare committee.
  • Attends all Executive committee meetings and Senate meetings.
  • Maintains regular office hours and serves on a variety of committees.
  • Other duties as described by the GSS Constitution and By-laws.

Nominations close on: Thursday, September 16th, at 5pm

Nominated candidates will be asked to speak at an Open Forum during the first Senate Meeting on: Monday, September 20th, at 3pm (Campus Center Room 911-915).

Balloting will begin at the Senate Meeting after the Open Forum, at 4pm on Monday, and will continue on Tuesday, September 21st, from 10am to 5pm in the Campus Center lobby.
