| REVENUE SHARING POLICY Revenue sharing is available to organizations from degree-granting departments, schools, and division or other constituencies as defined in Senate by-law 3 (I) (hereinafter "department") which have properly elected at least one graduate senator. Each such organization must have held advertised elections, approved as to procedures by the Senate's committees on elections under Senate by-law 3 (II). At least two officers must have been elected, one of whom must be treasurer who will be held responsible to Senate and to organization for accounting and disbursement of funds under this plan. All groups or organizations requesting revenue sharing from Graduate Student Senate must submit a proposal to Senate Treasurer for review by the GSS finance committee before the mid of each respective semester. Proposal should include documents, which specify: · Name of organization and department affiliation · Purpose of the organization · Eligibility for membership of organization · Elections procedures for officers (see Graduate Student Senate By-laws II -b), · Titles and duties of elected officers. · A brief explanation of the event or purpose for which the funds are requested. · Specific amount of funds requested. · An itemized budget for the event or purpose detailing anticipated expenses for the event and all committed and requested sources and amount of funding for the event, as well as estimates of any funds to be raised by the event. · Signature of the person responsible for the request. Documentation is required under the Senate's affirmative action policy. The finance committee of the GSS will consider all proposals. A representative of the group who is familiar with all aspects of the request must attend finance a committee meeting to answer questions about the proposal. Once questions have been answered, the finance committee will decide the appropriateness of the request and recommend an amount to GSS. The contact person of the group will be informed of the finance committee's recommendation and the date of the meeting at which the Senate will be voting on the recommendation. Groups and organizations may elect to send a representative to this Senate meeting in order to answer questions senate members may have.
