Vermont Vision Plan:
Cultural Resources

Vermont's rich cultural heritage provides rough framework of corridors that could enhance the state's greenway network. However, much of Vermont's cultural history is confined to two corridors with a number of subsidiary pockets and zones of cultural richness. Primarily, the zones of cultural interest are located along the chief paths of settlement: the Connecticut River and Lake Champlain. Important features in the cultural landscape include agricultural zones, historic sites and districts, museums, universities, mining areas and a few corridors with an industrial heritage.
