Unique Approaches: Legislative Efforts

Federal and state governments have enacted significant legislation and established important initiatives that have helped greenway planning greatly since the early 1990's. The literature reviews conducted for each state describe the numerous legislations and initiatives. The purpose of this introduction is to identify only the most significant Federal legislation and initiatives which have had profound impacts. Among all the various legislation and initiatives only those are selected which in the judgment of the study team are so important, that they should be emulated throughout New England and eventually, the United States.
