Community Park is a linear piece of open space stretching from the fish ladder and dam on the Connecticut River to a small existing beach. The site services the Franklin County Biketrail as it draws people from the Great Falls Discovery Center to the riverfront. The overall purpose for Community Park stands to provide a low impact, handicap accessible walking trail as an alternative to the Franklin County Bike Trail. The site supports parking for both the bike and loop trails along with an informative kiosk. with trail orientation, and eductional, historical, and ecological information on Montague. Signage accompanies the trail with additional informative information about the history of the Connecticut River at Turners Falls . The walking trail serves as a spine for various recreational sites which include a handicap fishing pier, a small marina/fishing pier, an observation deck equipped with telescopes for the Watchable Wildlife Foundation, a swimming area along the beach, and a an educational boardwalk through wetlands.
