Recreational resources in the Connecticut are plentiful. Continuing progress on the East Coast Greenway corridor through the state and nominating it as a Millennium Trail could greatly advance both a statewide and New England wide greenway network. The state has many advocates for greenways planning and development who are concurrently developing a statewide plan for greenways. It is a goal of this project to assist in the development of such a vision plan by offering additional proposals and integrating the expertise of landscape architects and other greenway planning and implementation professionals throughout the state.
A summary of results from this study regarding significant recreational resources in the state is found in the table below. It is important to note that many areas recognized as recreational resources are also considered natural resources. Likewise, many protected natural resources are also recreational resources.
