1. Guilford to Shoreline Connection
This connection of approximately 12 miles would connect to an
existing proposed greenway (Coginchaug River Greenway) that continues
north through Durham and along the Connecticut River to Hartford.
Additionally, it would connect to the Mattabesett trail. Potentially,
this greenway could follow Route 77, which is a designated scenic
road in the
State. To the south this proposed greenway section would connect
to a proposed shoreline greenway (Long Island Sound Greenway).

2. Guilford East to Cockaponset State Forest
Connection
This approximately 15 mile section would begin at northern most
point of proposal 1 and travel east to connect with a proposed
north-south greenway (Hammonassett River Greenway) and continue
on to the Cockaponset State Forest on the western edge of the
Connecticut River. TOP
3. Old Saybrook to New London Connection
This east-west connection of approximately 15 miles would be
an extension of the existing Long Island Sound Greenway proposal.
It would be very significant in making a connection between the
mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook and the mouth
of the Thames River in New London. Additionally, this section
of greenway would connect with other greenway proposals on both
of these rivers. TOP
4. Windham to Plainfield Connection
This approximately 15-mile section would strengthen east-west
greenway connections for the eastern part of the state. It would
connect in Windham with the Airline North and South Trails, as
well as the Hop River Trail to the west. Additional connections
could be made with an existing proposed greenway along the border
of Scotland and Canterbury and finally to the Moosup Valley Trail
in Plainfield. The proposed East Coast Greenway could also utilize
this greenway segment to make a more direct connection to Rhode
Island. TOP
5. Naugatuck to Cheshire Connection
This approximately 8 mile east-west section connects two significant
north-south greenways in the state; the existing proposal for
the Naugatuck River greenway and a completed section of the Farmington
Canal Greenway. Additionally, this section of the Farmington
Canal Greenway is also the proposed route for the East Coast
Greenway. TOP
6. Winchester to Canton Connection
This approximately 12 mile east-west section connects an existing
proposed greenway that travels through Norfolk up to the northwest
corner of the state with the American Legion/Peoples (State)
Forest and existing Blue Blazed Trails in Canton. TOP
