Connecticut has many natural resources worthy of protection. From the miles of shoreline to the rocky ridgelines to the rich riparian corridors along it's many rivers and streams. Protecting wetlands, watersheds, forests, lakes and wildlife habitats assures that the environment is a healthy ecosystem able to sustain life for generations to come. Much has been protected throughout the state, however more can be done. This section begins with a summary of what has already been protected throughout the state. Next, the proposed plans by the state and others for additional protection are discussed. This section concludes with proposals developed by the author and a summary of the significant protected natural resources and proposals for additional protected natural resource in the state of Connecticut.
