Welcome to the official web site for the Office of Fraternities and Sororities. For some of the alumni, we used to be "Greek Affairs", and for those who were undergrads here prior to the 1980s, a different office existed. The Office of Fraternities and Sororities oversees the general operations of the fraternity system on campus, works with other campus agencies, the national offices, and yes, sometimes the alumni (and alumnae).
Some alumni have done very well in maintaining a tie with their brothers/sisters and friends from other chapters. There is always a group of alumni at the class gatherings in June, and we see other alumni at Homecoming, athletic events, and other activities. Some members have been "lost" - either they lost the chapter or the chapter lost them. And the chapter roster for campus has changed over the years, and we now have a mix of some familiar chapters and some very new chapters (check the council pages).
Whatever the case, this web page is for the alumni. If an alumnus/a would like to make a general announcement to the UMassAmherst fraternity and sorority community, we can make that happen on this site. If an alumnus/a is seeking information from other alumni, we will try to assist you. This is a "work in progress", so please send suggestions on what would be helpful on this page for alumni. Send your suggestions to: michaeldwiseman@stuaf.umass.edu
A big thanks to the many alumni and alumnae who have actively supported the chapters and/or this office. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Michael

from an e-mail from Nate:
"As it turns out, I never made it to Israel after I graduated because of the war there, but instead I ended up teaching in China for a semester last fall. Now, I am back in China teaching again this year. After teaching here last fall, I went back to Boston and worked at an accounting firm for 6 months, but it was really not the right fit for me (at least right now). So I decided to come back to China and teach for another year while I decide exactly what I want to do next."
