Electrical and Computer Engineering Master's Degree Requirements

Program | Faculty | Master's | Doctoral | Courses

A student entering the M.S.E.C.E. degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering is assigned to a faculty member who acts as his or her program adviser. With the approval of the program adviser, the student selects a unified program consisting of a minimum of 33 graduate credits (11 courses), normally from courses chosen from the fields of engineering, mathematics, physics and computer science. The student also has the option of selecting a program which involves the preparation of a thesis (E&C-ENG 699, 6 credits) with no more than 24 additional graduate credits (eight courses) required. In this case, the student selects a major thesis adviser, usually after one semester of study, and in consultation with the thesis adviser, submits a proposal for thesis research to the student's thesis committee.

Candidates who have previously obtained an M.S. degree in a field closely related to Electrical and Computer Engineering are not eligible for admission to the M.S.E.C.E. degree program. Detailed information on the requirements for the M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering is available from the Departmental Graduate Office.
