The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences offers doctoral work in plant, soil, and
environmental science areas. Specialization and thesis problems related to the physiology and genetics of
horticultural and agronomic plants, to the fertility, chemistry, and physics of soils, and to
environmental and ecological problems are available to both Master's and Doctor of Philosophy degree candidates.
The department has no foreign language requirements for the doctoral degree.
