Graduate Student Grants Service

The Graduate Student Grants Service (GSGS) provides University graduate students with information and assistance with applications for external (non-University) grants and fellowships to support pre- and postdoctoral study and research. The service has several avenues of assistance. It offers regular workshops, free and open to all University graduate students, focusing on the search for grant opportunities, the application process, and proposal writing. It provides individual consultations in the GSGS office, 517 Goodell Bldg., for those students requiring additional guidance.

The Graduate Student Grants Service also distributes a monthly newsletter, Grantscape, which lists important upcoming grant and fellowship deadlines. Copies are sent to all grad-uate departments and are posted on the GSGS bulletin board and on the World Wide Web at http://www.umass.edu/research/gsgs. The service also provides a number of computer databases on the Internet for graduate or postgraduate study and research. Students can search these databases for information on programs that fund coursework at all levels of study, thesis or dissertation research, study or research abroad, programs for women and minorities, post-doctoral programs, and other areas of interest.

For more information, contact the Graduate Student Grants Service Coordinators, tel. (413) 545-3428.
