A Slam Dunk: Mullins Center Hall of History Celebrates UMass Achievements
Ten murals depicting great achievements in ice hockey and in women’s and men’s basketball over the last 110 years now grace a hallway at the Mullins Center. Ribbon cutting for the Hall of History, made possible with a $75,000 donation from George ’57 and Michele Megas-Ditomassi, was held in January just before the Minutemen beat rival Temple in men’s basketball. “These murals replace plain bare walls with a pictorial history of some of our proudest moments,” noted George Ditomassi. The mural impressed coach Derek Kellogg ‘95 who observed that, “The improved hallway between the men’s locker rooms and the practice rink will rev up school spirit and impress students we are trying to recruit.”
