Support Study Abroad Opportunities Through the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
During his study abroad experience in Ireland, economics and marketing major Gregory J. Callanan ’07 examined the nation’s technical expertise and economic growth. He also went to Ghana with a business development and global citizenship program, where he taught basic business skills to more than 350 people. Further participation in a community-service learning course took him to a Massachusetts middle school in an economically depressed area.
Callanan’s various scholarship awards, including a College of Social and Behavior Sciences Opportunity Scholarship, made these experiences possible. These awards also enabled Callanan’s next steps as he pursues a stint in the Peace Corps and employment in the nonprofit world. Currently SBS honors 12 academically outstanding students majoring in social and behavioral sciences each year. SBS would like to greatly increase that number.
