Why We Give

Scott loved UMass Amherst and had great mentors here where his entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured. The fund will let students identify and grow their talents, and realize their dreams of careers in broadcasting.

Scott Bacherman '76, played a Jimi Hendrix tune every time he was on air as program director at WMUA. After Scott's death, his cousin, Marc Berman '80, created a scholarship fund in his honor.

  • My athletic scholarship helped me focus on my biggest commitments: my education and track and field.
