Letter from the President of the UMass Amherst Foundation

Dear Fellow Alumni and Friends,

Since 2003, the UMass Amherst Foundation and the University of Massachusetts Amherst have worked together to secure and manage private gifts from donors who are committed to the advancement of the university. We have made great strides in encouraging a culture of philanthropy both on campus and among our many constituents. As a result, UMass Amherst's fundraising is surpassing goals and recording gifts at levels never before seen.

These past few years have been some of the most successful in the history of fundraising for the university. We received our first two eight-figure gifts in that time and are better positioned with fundraising professionals across campus than ever before.

We are grateful for the many donors who invest millions of dollars each year in support of our diverse student population, our world-class faculty, our innovative programming and our groundbreaking research initiatives. Private support – combining efforts far and wide – will provide the margin of excellence as we aspire to reach the upper echelon of public research institutions.
