John A. Armstrong
Vice President
John A. Armstrong is a retired vice president for science and technology at IBM and a long time supporter of the University of Massachusetts and its flagship Amherst campus. Armstrong and his wife Elizabeth created the Armstrong Endowment to support a professorship at UMass Amherst’s College of Engineering. In 1996, he joined the Dean’s Advisory Council of the College of Engineering and was a member of University Board of Trustees from 2004 through 2007. He received bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in physics from Harvard University. Armstrong lives in Amherst.
