Kenneth R. Feinberg ’67Kenneth R. Feinberg is one of the nation’s leading experts in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. He served as special master of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 and has played a major role in mediating other compensation disputes. Feinberg founded the Washington, D.C., law firm of The Feinberg Group, LLP.  He created the Feinberg Professorship in History at UMass, the first endowed professorship in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts as well as the Feinberg Fund for Excellence in History, which supports faculty salaries, lectures, and research. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from UMass Amherst in 1967 and a law degree from New York University.  He was awarded an honorary degree from UMass Amherst in 2002.  Feinberg lives in Bethesda, Maryland.
