◊ Professor Donson awarded Fraenkel Prize
Prof. Andrew Donson has just been awarded the prestigious
Fraenkel Prize of the
Wiener Library Institute of
Contemporary History (London) for his book manuscript Youth in the
Fatherless Land: War Pedagogy, Nationalism, and Authority in Germany
1914-1918. The Fraenkel Prize is
awarded for an outstanding work of twentieth-century history in one of the
Wiener Library’s fields of interest, i.e. the political history of Central
and Eastern Europe; Jewish history; the two world wars; antisemitism; and the
ideologies and movements of political extremism and totalitarianism
◊ Professor Lennox to receive Chancellor’s Medal
Congratulations to Prof. Sara Lennox! She has
been invited to present a Distinguished Faculty Lecture, where she will be
presented with the University of Massachusetts Chancellor’s Medal.
Her lecture, “Claiming Blackness in Germany,” will be given on Monday,
April 28, 2008 at 4 pm in the Massachusetts Room
of the Mullins Center. A reception will follow.
