“A Taste of Amherst” tailgate, Homecoming King and Queen, and debut of UMass license plates highlight Minutemen Saturday
Homecoming 2013 wraps up with an activity-filled day at Gillette Stadium Saturday, Oct. 26, highlighted by “A Taste of Amherst” and culminating with the Minutemen football team squaring off against Western Michigan at 3 p.m.
The Alumni Association Tailgate Tent at MinuteFan Park will open at noon for “A Taste of Amherst,” a special lunch presentation featuring five Amherst restaurants that will give alumni the chance to savor the food they remember from their UMass days. For only $10, fans can enjoy various pizzas from Antonio's Pizza, sandwiches from The Black Sheep Deli, chicken wings from The Hangar, Mediterranean selections from Moti, and burgers from White Hut.
On the field, after the first quarter of the game Andrew MacDougall, Alumni Association president and J.C. Schnabl, executive director, will present UMass license plate #1 to Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy, and plate #1863—in honor the year of the university’s founding—to UMass system President Robert Caret. The 2013 Homecoming King and Queen will also be introduced during the game and the Minuteman Marching Band will entertain fans.
