UMass Amherst campus bustling with spring events and activities

UMass Amherst swings into full spring mode this weekend with a host of activities, performances, games, celebrations, and athletic events for one of the busiest 72-hour stretches of the year. A few are listed here.


Celebrate our planet at the annual Earth Day Festival all day on the north lawn of the Student Union, featuring more than 30 student, faculty, staff, and community groups showcasing some of the amazing things they are doing to make our community more environmentally, economically, and socially just.

Check out Toast’s Improv Comedy show at Herter 231 starting at 8 p.m.

Soul TV’s Annual Spring Fashion Show “Dreams” will be in the Curry Hicks Cage followed by an after party.


Come do yoga on the Fine Arts Center terrace at the all-day Protect Our Breasts: EARTHDAYogathon.

The annual Black Mass Communication Project BBQ starts at noon on the Southwest Beach, featuring food, music, flag football, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, NPHC stroll competition, and dance performances by  SoCA (Students of Caribbean Ancestry).

The Northeast QuadFest starts at noon in the NE Quad. Southwest Area Fun in the Sun starts on the Southwest Beach at 2 p.m. Enjoy free food, obstacle courses, crafts, and more. 

The Asian American Student Association’s biggest event of the year, Asian Night: Unite to Ignite, will be held in the Fine Arts Center starting at 6:30 p.m. Join UMass AASA for a night full of music, dance, YouTube celebrities, food, free giveaways, meet and greets, and cultural celebration!

The Gospel Choir will perform its annual Gospel Concert Saturday in the Student Union Ballroom at 6:30 p.m. featuring the UMass Gospel Choir, B.A.S.I.C. Worship Team, a special guest artist, and more.

Join Duly Noted and other a cappella groups showcased with dance and comedy groups from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Herter 231 for a night filled with music and laughs.

Catch some free laughs at Mission:IMPROVable’s comedy show at 8 p.m. in Herter 231.

Listen to the sweet stylings of the weird-fun a cappella group Wicked Pitch at their spring concert in Old Chapel at 7 p.m.

UMass Motorsport holds their 11th Annual UMass Car Show in Lot 33 starting at 10 a.m.

Students of Caribbean Ancestry will be holding their first J’ouvert event on the south lawn at McGuirk football stadium starting at noon featuring music, food, and best of all, paint!

Play tournament dodgeball with the UMass Kinesiology Club in Boyden Gymnasium from 1 to 6 p.m.

The annual UMass Amherst Spring Concert featuring artists Jon Bellion, Lil Dicky, and 2 Chainz! Mullins Center doors open at 6 p.m.
