Contractor: Burton F. Clark Company
Estimated Construction Timeline: April 22, 2005 - September 30, 2005

Project Description

This project will relocate and replace the track facility that was displaced by the future Central Heating Plant currently in construction west of the Mullins Center. The new track facility is being built to the west of the Rudd Soccer Field and the Softball field. The new facility will be completed by the end of September, 2005, in time for the Track season. It will include a 9-lane, 400 meter synthetic surface track with steeplechase water jump, long and triple jumps, high-jump area, pole vault, and track timing system. There will also be a separate throwing events area south of Gladchuck Practice Fields and west of the Stadium.

For some excellent pictures of the track construction progress, check out UMass Athletics' review of the project, "Construction On New Track & Field Complex Under Way."
