Skinner Nursing School Renovation

UMass Project Manager: Henry Merriman
Designer/Architect: Rothman Partners, Inc.
Contractor: TBD
Estimated Construction Timeline: April, 2006 through October, 2007

Project Description

Skinner Nursing School -
before renovation

Constructed in the 1940's, Skinner Hall is a sturdy structure that, while structurally sound, no longer adequately supports today's nursing curriculum and ancillary uses. This UMBA project shall adaptively reuse the fracility for a new School of Nursing. The existing structure will be selectively demolished down to the frame and exterior skin/roof. A two-story addition is planned to be built on the east side of the building. The existing facility will be renovated and adapted to the School's program requirements with new mechanical and electrical systems, wireless Ethernet, and fully-functional patient bed teaching labs.
