Estimated Construction Timeline: May, 2004 through April, 2006

Project Description
CHP Site Plan
Artist's Aerial Rendering

The main floor of the Du Bois Library is an approximately 55,000 square foot underground building that rings the library tower. The main floor has had significant leaks for many years due to the fact that the building is capped with a failed concrete pedestrian plaza. This project will correct this condition by removing all overburden atop the main floor structure, removing all existing waterproofing material, repairing the main floor structural roof deck surface, applying new waterproofing material, and finally reinstalling a new concrete pedestrian plaza. Significant plaza deck modifications will be made to improve pedestrian circulation, deck configuration, amenities, lighting and landscape design.

While physical repairs to the deck are expected to be finished in late October or early November of this year, landscaping will not occur until the Spring of 2006. This will allow newly planted foliage the greatest amount of time to become established and substantially increase survivability rates.
