Project Description
Upper Level Floor Plan
Servery and Dining
Artist's Rendering Late Night

What was once a standard university cafeteria will be a contemporary dining experience. It will be a national showcase, state of the art, campus dining facility. Welcome to Berkshire Dining Commons, the latest UMass Amherst dining area to be completely revamped, in both design and cuisine, in late December 05, with plans to reopen in September 2006. Renovation work includes code compliance improvements, exterior envelope improvements, upgrading of building systems, and interior upgrading of the institutional kitchen and dining facilities.

Berkshire DC will feature many display cooking areas, with freshness of ingredients in mind. The dining area will be divided into 10 distinct food realms, each with its own theme and menu selections, ranging from vegan to Pan Asian to rotating restaurant-style cuisine.

The feel will be more like downtown Northampton, with its eclectic style, and the space will incorporate warm yellows and reds for wall coloring, multi-level seating choices and open-display cooking stations. There will also be an area designated for private dining.

Many popular specials will be offered throughout the year such as restaurant night, midnight buffet, cupcake bar, steak and lobster night and Holiday Celebration meals. Live student performances will also be featured several times throughout the academic year.
