Dr. Bloniarz is an Urban Forester with an extensive background in urban forest management and landscape design. David holds a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture and a Doctorate in Urban Forestry from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. Presently Dr. Bloniarz is project coordinator of the USDA Forest Service's Northeast Center for Urban and Community Forestry at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. His work focuses on the development of innovative urban forest initiatives in the six New England states plus New York, and the transfer of information, technology, and research on urban forest issues to the region. He has worked on numerous urban forestry projects throughout the northeast including volunteers street tree inventories in Brookline, Springfield, and Agawam, Massachusetts. Presently he is working on inventory projects in New York City, Stamford, CT, Boston, and Springfield, MA. Dr. Bloniarz is also a member of the Massachusetts Community Forestry Council and is a Massachusetts Certified Arborist and an International Society of Arboriclulture Certified Arborist.

• Responding to storm emergencies: A regional approach to urban forestry
• Training the trainers: A volunteer program for urban forest resource inventories
• Hazard trees in an urban landscape
• Determining values of streetscape trees
• Survey of urban forest professionals in New England/New York
• Use of GIS technology in urban forest resource management
• Park planning: opportunities for urban forestry
