Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Department of Food Science at the University of Massachusetts is strongly committed to support and promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the university, our department, and surrounding community. Recruiting and retaining a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty enrich educational experiences and create a climate of respect supportive of success. Within our department, attention and sensitivity to diversity issues are fostered in course offerings, undergraduate programs, faculty and graduate student research.

The Department Climate Committee seeks to foster and advance diversity issues across different levels of the department, including undergraduate and graduate training, faculty and staff recruitment and retention, and professional development related to diversity for the entire department.
