UMASS AND FIVE COLLEGES
We compile listings of film courses at UMass and in the Five Colleges that fulfill the requirements for the Film Studies Certificate.
From Screenwriting to topics in World Cinema, from Documentary filmmaking to the History of Film, our courses embrace the spectrum from the technical and creative challenges of film and video production to the critical work of analysis and film theory.
The Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies website and the Five College Film Studies website are the two places you can find film course listings with descriptions, prerequisites, meeting times and locations, and other relevant information.
Each course description includes the "Undergraduate UMass Film Studies Certificate category" so that students can choose courses needed to complete the distribution requirements for the certificate.
UMass students wishing to take courses at Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke or Smith should act early and visit the Five College Interchange office to begin filling out forms and collecting necessary signatures.
