Family Research Scholars Program
Every year, The Family Research Scholars Program supports up to six faculty to each produce and submit a major grant proposal for family research. All Family Research Scholars participate in a year-long, bimonthly interdisciplinary seminar led by CRF's director, Sally Powers, which includes technical, methodological and textual feedback and assistance. Wendy Varner, associate director, and Aline Sayer, director of the methodology programs at CRF, also actively participate in the seminars.
CRF Scholar's research areas have included such areas as:
*interpersonal and intercultural communication;
*young children with behavior disorders;
*cultural, feminist, and activist anthropology; social inequality, crime and criminal justice policy;
*labor market discrimination based on sexual orientation, race, and gender;
*family policies across a range of industrialized nations;
*women's health and symptom experience;
*bicultural socialization processes for adopted children;
*media preliteracy development and academic engagement;
*labor policy and their impacts on family, and much more.
These scholars have had tremendous success in securing federal and foundation support.
