Scholars in Residence Program
The Center for Research on Families Scholars-in-Residence Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is intended for faculty who wish to spend a limited period of time at the center pursuing research on a particular topic of family research.
Scholars-in-Residence are generally those with a faculty appointment at their home institution or equivalent professional status. We believe that the intellectual lives of CRF faculty and students are enriched by the academic and regional diversity of our visiting residents, and we invite applications from both domestic and international scholars.
Scholars-in-Residence will be invited to attend faculty events, workshops, conferences, and colloquia hosted by CRF. Scholars may also have the opportunity to present their research with other CRF Family Research Scholars in a seminar series. They may also be invited to present their research to the larger academic community.
All CRF Scholars-in-Residence will have access to office space and office supplies, computers with Internet connections, and access to University of Massachusetts Amherst’s library and other facilities. For more information, please review the University’s website: www.umass.edu.
CRF is unable to offer any salary support to those who are accepted as a Scholar-in-Residence.
To be considered for a Scholar-in-Residence at the Center for Research on Families, please write a letter to Sally Powers, CRF Director, describing your research interests and plans for your visit to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Please indicate the timeframe for your visit as well as the anticipated faculty members at the Center for Research on Families or within the university you anticipate interacting with. Your letter should also discuss ways in which your research objectives will be of benefit to the center's students and affiliated faculty. Please include a CV with the letter of application. CRF Scholars-in-Residence are accepted on a rolling admissions basis.
