Logistics & Travel Information

WELCOME

We are delighted to have you visit the UMass Amherst campus for your ICPSR workshop this summer. 
In order to prepare for your arrival we have created a quick list of all the information you need to plan for your visit including: hotel booking codes, travel directions, parking and many other helpful resources.

Workshop Details

  • Workshop Location
    The final workshop location will not be posted (emailed to you) until 2 weeks proir to your workshop start date. We try to hold the workshops close to the UMass Campus Hotel, North Residential Dorms and Parking Garage for convince. Please refer to the map HERE for an general idea of the proximity of the Hotel/ Dorms/ Parking Garage at UMass.
  • Agenda
    Registration begins at 8:30am on the 1st day of your workshop.
    
Each workshop generally runs from 9:00am – 5:00pm each day, with the exception of the final day, where participants can leave a little early to catch buses, trains etc. (Please email us first before you make arrangements to leave early.)
  • Refreshments
    We will provide light refreshments in the morning & afternoon.  Lunch is on your own. There are several dining options close to the workshop location. Please CLICK HERE for a full list of the dining options available.
  • Computers/Syllabus
    Most workshops require you to bring a laptop to work on. Your presenter will be in contact with you 2 week proir to your workshop date to give your all the information surrounding bringing your own computer. Unfortunately we cannot give out any of this information earlier than 2 week prior to your workshop. If you are required to bring laptop to your workshop, we will provide temporary software to run your methodology programs on (this infomation will be in your presenters email.)
  • Other
    We recommend dressing warm for your workshop, as the room will be air-conditioned & we have difficulty regulating the temperature. 
     

Travelling to UMass

The Amherst campus of the University of Massachusetts is located in western Massachusetts, which is approximately two hours west of Boston. The university is close to major highways, including Interstate routes 90 and 91.  We have created a detailed list of the best ways to get to UMass HERE whether it be plane, bus or car.
