Workshop Logistics

Location

The workshop room location will be emailed to participants no more than two weeks prior to your workshop start date. We try to hold the workshops close to the Hotel UMass, North Residential Dorms and the Parking Garage for convenience. Please refer to the map for a general idea of the proximity of the hotel/dorms/parking garage at UMass.

Parking

Participants traveling to UMass on a daily basis will be able to park in the Campus Center parking garage for a discounted rate. You will not need a pass to enter the garage on arrival. A pass will be furnished for you daily upon check-in. The parking garage is centrally located at: 1 Campus Center Way, Amherst, MA 01003.

Agenda

Registration begins at 8:30 AM on the first day of your workshop.
Each workshop generally runs from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM each day, with the exception of the final day, where participants can leave a little early to catch buses, trains, etc. (Please email us first before you make arrangements to leave early.)

Refreshments

We will provide breakfast each moring and light refreshments in the afternoon. Lunch is on your own. There are several dining options close to the workshop location. Please view the Guide to Amherst & UMass for a full list of the dining options available.

Computers and Class Syllabus

Most workshops require you to bring a laptop with which to work. Your presenter will be in contact with you two weeks prior to your workshop date to communicate further expectations about bringing your own computer. Unfortunately we cannot give out any of this information earlier than two weeks prior to your workshop. If you are required to bring laptop to your workshop, we will provide temporary software to run your methodology programs (this information will be in your presenter's email).

Other

We recommend dressing in layers for your workshop. The outside temperature for Amherst in June is anywhere between 75-85 degrees. Fortunately your classroom will be air-conditioned, but we have difficulty regulating the temperature, so remembering to bring an extra sweater (or two!) is key.
