One award in the amount of $10,000 will be given to a UMass Amherst graduate student who exhibits the potential to make an outstanding contribution to the field of family research. The awarded graduate student will assist a faculty member with his/her research on families for the academic year of the award or work on their own research related project under the advisement and mentorship of a faculty member.

Two awards will be given to fund graduate students who wish to attend CRF’s summer Methodology Workshops at UMass Amherst. These workshops will vary in content, but all will introduce innovative research methods and analytical models/tools.

One award of $300 will be given to a UMass Amherst graduate student who has written an outstanding paper on issues of family research and will be presenting the paper (panel or lecture) at a national research conference before July 15, 2013. The paper must already have been accepted for presentation at the conference and the award money will be used exclusively for travel expenses associated with the conference. (Poster submissions alone are not eligible.)
